Privacy
Longhand is built so that your writing never leaves your device. This page sets out what it stores, and the one thing it sends.
Your writing stays with you
Everything you write, draw or photograph in Longhand is saved in your browser, on your device. It is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we cannot see it. Backup files go wherever you choose to save them.
The licence check
If you buy Longhand, the app checks your licence key with Polar, the company that sells it for us. The check runs when you enter the key and about once a day after that, while you are online. It sends the key, an activation number and a device label such as “Longhand on iPad”. Like any website, Polar also sees the IP address the request comes from.
Payments
Polar is the merchant of record for Longhand. It takes your payment, handles sales tax and sends your receipt, so it holds your name, email address and order details under Polar’s privacy policy. Longhand never sees your card.
No tracking
Longhand uses no analytics, no advertising and no cookies. Its fonts and icons come from this website, not from anyone else’s.
Hosting
The company that hosts this website may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the time of each request, to run and protect the service.
